A very small milestone

It may be a little premature in its announcement, but I believe that I've just finished off chapter twelve of The Silence. I may have been a little hasty in concluding it, though, so maybe I shouldn't be celebrating it yet.

I may, however, simply press on, leaving it to be fleshed out later in revision. I find myself stalling because of the pressures of teaching full-time, and I promised my mother that I would not let my writing fall slack under the burden of full-time employment.

So. Twelve of fifteen chapters done. 72,000 words, which brings it to about 288 young adult novel pages. Not quite the length of the first Harry Potter novel, but with three full chapters left to write (and the last one clocking in at 8200 words), I think I'll top Rowling for length by the time I'm finished.

That's all! A lazy weekend spent at home, watching Miyazaki, grading papers, and eating muscat gummies. Not too shabby, if I may say, though the prospect of work in the morning is a trifle deflating. I do not feel particularly rested, and so the thought of working six days in a row is a little intimidating. Ah well-- if I make it through this week, I'm finished with my first humanities project, and I can have a bit of a break to write progress reports and the planning document for my Ottoman Empire project.
