Princess-- in another castle?
I haven't updated this in a few days, which is kind of the opposite of what I was going for here. I'd like to believe that I can write a little bit of intelligent rambling each day... But I suppose as the novelty begins to wear off, I'm left with the basic problems of keeping a 'journal'-- namely, that my day-to-day affairs don't seem particularly exciting.
Last night I stayed up until 1:30am finishing "Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time," a delightful entertainment with almost all of the charm of its predecessor. The music's not as good, which is unfortunate (except for the final battle themes, which I found delightful)-- which surprises me, really, because I've come to depend on the awesomeness that is Yoko Shimomura. Ms. Shimomura has done the soundtracks to Legend of Mana, Parasite Eve, and Kingdom Hearts, all of which I find rather entertaining. Back in the day, she even provided the score for the original Super Mario RPG, which I know Jordan will agree is one of the better 16-bit RPG soundtracks.
Partners in Time manages to retain the delightful sense of humor that Superstar Saga possessed, and while it lacks the hilariously insane rantings of Fawful ("I HAVE FURY!" is a notably example), it makes up for it with elaborate pantomimes and some amusing meta-humor ("Will you boys save the Princess? Don't worry, she's not in another castle or anything"). Also, your companion Stuffwell, a talking suitcase who ends any commentary with "BACK TO ADVENTURE!", an expression which I wish I could apply more often to my everyday life.
I have a lot of writing that I need to be doing in the next week, including a short scene I must write for tomorrow's creative writing seminar and my enormous treatise on fantasy-comedy and "Back to the Future." Also, I have been kicking around ideas for a short story in the world of The Silence which I could submit to the second edition of "The Journal," Exeter's creative writing magazine (in the first issue, the first chapter of The Silence was featured).
I also have a six-page Kenyon essay to worry about, but I don't really have to finish it until the 27th, so I'm gonna leave it for the last minute. Joy!
Finally, a link to top things off. Someone's gotta write a story or a play or something about this. It is ripe with potential, like a succulent fruit. A sexy fruit.
